Five Common Rosacea Triggers
If you’re struggling with Rosacea, here are five common triggers to watch out for:
1. Environmental triggers:
Sun exposure – UV rays can worsen rosacea
Extreme temperatures – both hot and cold weather, or a sudden change temperature
Humidity – high or low levels of humidity can aggravate symptoms
2. Skincare triggers:
Harsh products – look out for the following ingredients in your skincare: alcohol, witch hazel, menthol and fragrance
Exfoliants – consider using a gentle chemical exfoliant such as beta hydroxy acids (BHAs)
Make sure you’re wearing SPF every day
3. Lifestyle triggers:
Stress
Saunas – the heat can dilate blood vessels and worsen redness
Exercise – specifically high intensity workouts
4. Dietary triggers:
Spicy foods
Alcohol – in particular red wine and beer
Coffee
5. Health related triggers
Hormonal changes – menopause, pregnancy or menstruation can all contribute
Medications – blood pressure medications, vitamin B3 and topical steroids
