Skincare Treatment FAQs
-
There is the option to book a free consultation and personalised treatment within the same appointment for those who are uncertain. During the consultation we’ll discuss your skin concerns, goals, current skincare routine, lifestyle, and medical history. Based on this, we’ll recommend a selection of treatments tailored to your needs and budget. Once you’ve chosen the option that feels right for you, we’ll proceed with your treatment on the same day.
If you prefer to book a treatment directly but are unsure if it’s the right fit, rest assured a thorough skin analysis will be performed before every appointment to ensure the chosen treatment is suitable. Should we decide a different option would be better for your skin’s health, an alternative treatment will be recommended.
Please note that we reserve the right to decline a treatment if we feel it may not be in the best interest of your skin.

You can explore our recommended treatments for each specific concerns on our services section on Fresha. -
Yes, experiencing mild breakouts or ‘purging’ after a facial is completely normal depending on your skin type and what treatment you had. This happens because professional treatments often stimulate cell turnover and deeply cleanse the skin, bringing underlying congestion to the surface. These breakouts can last a few days, during this time it’s important not to pick or touch the skin as this can spread bacteria and delay the healing process.
-
Your skin goes through a full renewal cycle approximately every 28 days. That’s why scheduling facials every 4-6 weeks is ideal, it works in sync with your skin’s natural cell turnover, helping to maintain a healthy, glowing complexion.
-
We recommend waiting at least 24 hours after a facial treatment before reapplying makeup, it’s important you allow your skin time to breathe after a facial.
-
Absolutely! We have our Men’s Freshen Up Facial which has been specifically designed to target common skin concerns such as blackheads, congestion, dullness and dehydration.
Skin Product & Routines FAQ
-
Yes we do! At Selina Caroline Skin, we proudly partner with Dermaquest and CLINICARE to offer high-quality, medical grade skincare products tailored to your individual skin needs. We believe in the 80/20 rule: 80% of your skin’s health and long-term results come from your daily at home skincare routine, while the remaining 20% comes from in-clinic treatments, where we can target specific concerns and boost results in one treatment. Our goal is to support your skin journey with the right combination of professional guidance and effective home care. While we can always recommend products we believe will benefit your skin, there is no pressure to purchase anything. Any decisions are entirely yours, in your own time.
-
Absolutely, there is no obligation to purchase any products when booking a treatment. If you’re happy with your current skincare routine and simply wish to maintain your skin with a monthly glow up, our treatments alone can deliver noticeable results. While we may offer product recommendations to support your skin goals, the choice to purchase is entirely up to you!
-
No, product recommendations are completely complimentary. After your appointment, you’ll receive a personalised breakdown of suggested skincare products via email at no extra cost. This service is part of our commitment to supporting your skin journey.
Before & Aftercare
-
If possible, please arrive with no makeup, though we do have makeup remove available if needed. We recommend avoiding active ingredients (such as retinol, AHAs, BHAs, or vitamin C) for at least 2-3 days before your treatment. For more intensive treatments such as Chemical Peels and Microneedling, all active ingredients should be discontinued for a full 2 week prior to ensure optimal results and reduce the risk of sensitivity. We also suggest wearing something comfortable so you can full relax during your treatment.
-
Yes, aftercare is essential for achieving the best results and protecting your skin. While specific guidance will be provided at the end of your treatment, here are some general guidelines:
Avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 hours
Avoid direct sun exposure and always wear SPF
Refrain from hot showers, saunas and steam rooms for 24 hours
Do not use active ingredients for a minimum of 24 hours
Please note that aftercare may vary depending on the treatment you’ve had, you will be fully briefed on how to care for your skin before you leave the clinic.
